존경하는 학부모님들께

그동안 안녕하셨습니까?

대체로 선선했던 2023년 7, 8월이 여름이었음을 상기시키듯 이번 주는 많이 덥습니다.

8월 중순부터 개강 준비로 모든 선생님이 분주하셨습니다. 이번 새 학년 첫 학기에 한글 과정의 교과 내용에 아래와 같이 변동을 주었습니다:

1. 초등 과정에 미술 수업을 정기적으로 추가했습니다.

2. 중고등과정은 ‘예술과 문화” 그리고 “역사와 사회”라는 과목을 신설하였습니다. 그리하여 수업이 좀 더 실제적이고, 흥미 있는 활동으로 이뤄지게 됩니다. 역사, 사회, 문화, 예술, 국어 분야 수업을 좀 더 통합적인 주제로 구성하여 학생들의 국어 실력을 흥미롭고 효과적인 방법으로 향상시키는 시도를 해 보려고 합니다.

3. 학교 커리큘럼을 좀 더 우리 학생들의 요구에 맞게 조정하기 위해, 학부모님들에게 곧 설문 조사를 할 예정입니다.

이번 9월부터는 학교의 모든 수업이 9시 40분에 시작하여 오후 1시에 마치며, 학기에 14회 수업을 진행합니다. 조정된 수업 시간을 통해, 우리 학생들이 주중 학업과 주말 개인 및 가족생활에 좀 더 균형을 이루고, 즐겁고도 지속 가능한 한글학교 생활이 되길 바랍니다.

이번 학기에도 학부모님들과의 소중한 협력을 기대하며, 자녀분들의 한국(어)에 대한 이해의 향상을 돕기 위해 함께 최선을 다하겠습니다. 개강을 고대하며, 건강하고 행복한 학기가 되길 기원합니다.

Dear respected parents,

I trust this email finds you all in good health. As we enter this week, we find ourselves amidst a rather intense heatwave, the last reminder of the season.

Our dedicated teaching staff has been diligently preparing for the forthcoming school year. In this upcoming semester of the new academic year, we have introduced several significant enhancements to our curriculum:

• We have incorporated regular art classes into the elementary program, providing our young learners with creative outlets for self-expression.
• We are excited to introduce two new subjects in the middle and high school programs: “Art and Culture” and “History and Society.” These additions promise to infuse our classes with practicality and engagement in Korean language learning. Our approach involves structuring lessons around integrated themes encompassing history, society, culture, and art to foster a more enjoyable and effective enhancement of our students’ Korean language proficiency.
• We will soon survey to gather valuable insights and suggestions from parents to ensure that our curriculum aligns seamlessly with our students’ needs and expectations.

Commencing this September, all school classes will commence at 9:40 AM and dismiss at 1:00 PM, with 14 sessions per semester. Through these adjusted lesson hours, we aspire to assist our students in achieving a more harmonious balance between their weekday academic pursuits and their weekend personal and family lives. We aim to create an enjoyable and sustainable learning experience at our Korean School.

We hope to have another school year filled with fruitful collaboration with parents and remain steadfast in our commitment to enriching your children’s understanding of Korean culture and language. As we eagerly look forward to the commencement of the new school year, we extend our warmest wishes to you all for good health and happiness in the days ahead.
